PFC Kicks off 4th Furniture Exhibition

Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) has officially commenced its 4th furniture exhibition ‘Interiors Pakistan’ at Expo Centre, Johar Town, Lahore.

The three-day event, inaugurated by renowned nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadir Khan, will last until Sunday, February 14, 2016 and is expected to receive an immense footfall of visitors – 150,000 to 200,000, according to an estimate.

The PFC’s official Facebook page sates that almost 100 brands have exhibited at the event. Diamond Foam is the prime sponsor of the event, while Dolce Vita Home, Habitt, NM Furnishers, National Furnishers, Interwood, Ambiance, ChenOne Home, Dawon Chairs, Index Furniture, Fantac, Style & Comfort, Torch, Furniture Kingdom, Profine, OffiSys, Charag Din & Co, Offix and Purani Yaadein are the other major exhibitors.

Visitors on the lookout for buying furniture will be able to enjoy discount of up to 20% on different items exhibited at the event.

PFC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mian Muhammad Kashif Ashfaq, who is also the CEO of ChenOne, told reporters that Interiors Pakistan is aimed at promoting furniture industry, adding that when such exhibitions are held at a national level, they provide an opportunity to local producers to access international markets.

He also said that with the government’s support, the PFC is trying to take this platform to an international level.

A trade delegation from Turkey will Pakistan to promote furniture and leather industry. The delegation will also attend Interiors Pakistan on February 4th, which will be one of the most important parts of the event.

“We congratulate PFC for organising 4th furniture exhibition, which provides an equal opportunity to younger players to understand market trends and compare their work with that of established furniture brands,” said ApnaFurniture.pk CEO Shahzad Ali.

“Such events must be held from time to time as they provide certain boost to our furniture industry and help brands promote their business and increase their clientele. Moreover, such events also provide an opportunity to furniture experts meet under one roof,”

PFC organised its first two furniture exhibitions in Lahore, while the third exhibition was organised in Islamabad, which also turned out to be a huge success. This time again, Lahore is the venue.

“We hope that PFC will continue its efforts to uphold furniture industry’s growth and look forward to joining hands with the council at some points in the future,” Ali added.

According to Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Secretary Rabia Javeri Agha, the country’s furniture exports value at $0.7 million, however, it grew 20% in the recent past. While talking to the media after the inauguration of Interiors Pakistan event, Javeria admitted that Pakistan has a potential to surge its furniture exports.
