Pakistan and China shake hands to improve forestation

Pakistan and China have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve bilateral relationships in forestry. A ceremony to sign the MoU was organized on Monday, December 17, 2019 which was attended by Malik Amin (Advisor to Prime Minister Imran Khan on Climate Change) and Chinese Ambassador (Yao Jing) along with other officials concerned.

While attending the ceremony Amin appreciated China’s projects for improving environment and told reporters that China has played a vital role in training Pakistani professionals from the fields of forestry, wetland management, wildlife and wetland improvement.

Amid said that Pakistan is doing massive efforts to improve forestation in the country and now is the chance for Pakistan to learn from China’s experiences in this regard.

According to the MoU signed, China will help Pakistan in its forest policy and will also provide technological support.

Importance of MoU for Pakistan Furniture Industry

According to a report, forest cover of a country should be at least 25% of the total area. What woe that Pakistan’s forest cover is only 4.5%, which is one of the main reasons affecting production of high-quality furniture products.

The MoU signed between Pakistan and China will help improve forest cover in the former and will positively impact the furniture industry.
