Saher Abdul Qadir, 26, a young and enthusiastic furniture designer, recently exhibited her furniture items for the first time after she launched her furniture concern almost 6 months ago.
Esque (brand name of Saher’s furniture concern), according to her is the abbreviation of her name, but the word also maintains close ties with ‘style’ in its literal meaning. Saher displayed 110 products at the one-day exhibition, out which 60 were furniture items and the rest of them were a mix of cushions, mirrors and painted trays.
It must be noted that Saher graduated from Rhode Island School of Design back in 2011, which tells tale about her ability to design staggering furniture items. Though she started her furniture concern 6 months ago, she sold a number of items, more than 100, through Facebook.
Saher currently runs six shops in the city and manages everything right from carving wood to polishing the old furniture items. Out of six outlets, three are the furniture studios located in Saddar, Tauheed Commercial Area, and Manzoor Colony.
There was a ‘golf leaf antique window floor lamp’ exhibited at the exposition, about which Saher told reporters that when she saw an old window in the market, she thought of buying it and turning it into an attractive floor lamp.
About ‘Shikaar Chair’ she told that the chair was a result of an inspiration of her infantile memories weaved with her late father’s hunting trips.
Saher unveiled that her future plan was to set up a big studio. According to her, four types of woods are usually used in Pakistan for manufacturing furniture items, and these are Keekar, Walnut, Rosewood, and Sheesham and she always prefers the best type of wood to make durable items.
Saher is an inspiration for other young furniture designers and lovers who intend to excel in the furniture industry and mesmerise people with their unique designs.
ApnaFunriture.pk wishes Saher and other young furniture designers the very best of luck and applauds their contribution to the furniture industry.
