Furniture City to be established in Faisalabad

Faisalabad: The Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) has decided to establish Furniture City in the industrial area of the city.

According to a news source, imported wood seasoning plants are likely to be established in the Furniture City to manufacture international standard furniture.

“FIEDMC has collaborated with a Swedish company IKEA for development of the Furniture City. This initiative is likely to increase furniture exports of Pakistan,” said FIEDMC Chief Operating Officer Mr Amir Saleemi while talking to a news agency. He also told that for the first time, movable and light-weight furniture of international standard would be developed in the country.

News source further specified that a large number of people around Faisalabad are connected to the furniture business, but it is unfortunate that the furniture industry works at the local level and is largely unregistered.
